My decks are fun, just look at the Athena, Saiki, Pharoah Mas, and wonderful All decks of mine/ours that have topped and done well, they are a lot more fun than playing decks you know you can't win with (Evil symbol). oO

I had planned on om playing Jesse's Andy deck because I wasn't happy with how Duo performed the night before. Then Jesse accidentally put his deck back in his bag. I got to Buffalo and realized this. I asked Kevin what we had together and he said Gemini Man. I was comfortable all day with this deck. 7HS and only 19 vitality made me feel pretty exposed, especially with no Templar blocks.

Thanks to everybody who showed up. It was a great time, and I hope it's sooner rather than later that we can do this again!

We have different definitions of "wonderful". And besides, with the All monstrosities weakened, now there's really only skullman to give that deck major issue. Afterwards it's pretty smooth sailing.

It didn't. The top cut was settled entirely by concessions and prize splits.

To be fair it was 3-0 in the first three rounds of Swiss, so it wasn't totally free

Cetonis
06-22-2015, 09:13 AM
Okay, a little more fair then. All the same, I wonder if we shouldn't just move to doing swiss-only events for the EC next year (aside from those events which are also PTCs). EC top cuts have become something of a farce.

How about normal Swiss rounds based on attendance (with your/JasCo system, adding rounds after 12/24/48/96 players) plus 2 more, with 1 circuit point awarded for each Swiss win and 2 points for the overall winner? (Maybe "all players tied for 1st after the last round" to prevent tiebreaker awkwardness, but perhaps that's okay, and doesn't offer an incentive to ID late)

Or something along those lines. A big positive, in my eyes, is that everyone finishes at the same time, so it's easier to wrangle folks for the big crowd dinners.

He's not the champion we want, but he's the one we deserve.

2 of the 3 of the non Snake Man players also said they didn't want to waste their time playing against it. So I think we can mostly say Snake Man would have won anyway.

Yeah, or even just plus one round more (since some part of our issue is time constraints). I'd be in favor of just giving one extra point to everyone with the top record, so if in the last round two top players have the same record, they could ID and both get the point, but it would be worse than winning the match and getting two points (one for the match win and one for the top record).

You heard it here first folks - Snake Man is NPE and should be banned.

Seriously though, if you want me to play Snake Man for the Scotts Valley PTC where I get characters banned all you have to do is ask nicely.

@Tim: Good point about ID vs just winning, I kinda forgot about the heavy disincentive to draw. Are we okay with people rolling for winners when time runs out?

@Hughes: Lol did Sean and Field both say that? I'm 75% confident Snake is free as all hell to Gemini Man (but I can't find out, because you always refuse to play pickups against me...), and I didn't feel terrible about my matchup either (esp since it's Giggles and he'd go on tilt as soon as he failed a Pharaoh check, "OF COURSE")

Cetonis

Rolling dice: We could do 2 points for win, 1 point for draw maybe? Then give 2 points to a solo top record, and 1 point to each person if there is a tie?

Shucks, I was sure Kevin was 2/3 of the pre-match scoopers :) <not>

I wouldn't mind simply explaining to people that you're not allowed to settle the outcome of the match by rolling dice. If the match would finish in a draw, the players can try to guess who's ahead / more likely to win if there weren't a time limit and ask for a concession, and if that doesn't happen just live with the draw.
