My gf just priced flights from San Jose Airport to Vegas...running a special: $130 round trip!! Sal, holler at me if you want that info! :)

Now, if we could just get more details, i could budget, find which hotels i'm stayin' at, and pretty much just make this go!!

What are travel dates? Ideally i would fly out late thur/early fri and not have to miss thur&fri @ work. And is that a come back sun night price?

Soooo going. I have no idea the next time its gonna be close to me again. The last time i went on a road trip was last January for a YuGiOh Shonen Jump; felt soooo weird about being in LA with all the homeless peoples on the sides of the streets and tall buildings. Hopefully the same, if not more people show up to nats than at gencon. I hope so. I would play in the Legacy tourny :)

P.S. I no longer play YuGi-Monz

Couple of things to note on Trops (Tropicana) in Vegas:

The hotel rooms are ok, the low end rooms aren't that comfortable at all. Seeing that they are actually hosting the con, I'm not convinced you'll be getting that much of a deal by staying there that weekend. There's 3 other hotels all on the same corner (New York New York, Excalibur, and MGM Grand) that you just walk on an overpass to get to. There's a decent chance that the hotels nearby may be less expensive and/or have nicer rooms. Since Trops is on one end of the Strip, there are a couple of non-casino hotels within walking distance which may be even cheaper. It also means you have to watch where you book if you do stay on the Strip, as casinos like Circus Circus, Wynn, TI, Mirage, are on the other side of the strip, and that IS a long walk or requires taking a tram (I think the tram is running again).

There's a shuttle service from the airport to the hotels on the strip, so you don't have to take a taxi. Staying at the Trops means you're the first one dropped off as well (they are that close to the airport). They'll also come pick you up if you call and make reservations ahead of time, did that last time, worked out very well. Expect rooms Thurs-Sat to be more expensive than Sun-Mon, but that means if you've got extra vacation time, you can take off 1-2 extra days and stay out there and enjoy Vegas for not much more money. US Election Day is the Tuesday after Neoncon, so it may be considered a National Holiday to some.

Anyone know what days UFS will be?

Between time off work and an extra night, getting to vegas early friday as opposed to thur will save me $300+

Agreed. On the plus side, I have the vacation time set at work, so it's all about details and transportation from here.

On the housing side, at this time I'm looking for a hotel host. I am not opposed to sleeping on the floor (I slept under a desk at Worlds this year =O) and I only bring a backpack for EVERYTHING, so space-wise I'm efficient as hell! Call me!

While the details are still being ironed out with NeonCon, I just wanted to pass along the limited information that I found out while speaking with the NeonCon peeps at GenCon. For all direct information about NeonCon I would say you can go to their website.

http://www.neoncon.com

The Tropicana Las Vegas is hosting NeonCon and has just completed Phase I of a remodel and renovation to their facility. So even though the listed rating of the resort/casino seem low on travel site ratings, it has apparently shaped up quite nicely. Phase II of the renovation will start right after NeonCon so anyone in attendance shouldn't have to deal with that annoyance.
* At this time I am still uncertain as to any discounted rates available for NeonCon but the room rate are on the lower end of what is available on the Strip. More information on those rates can be found at the Tropicana Las Vegas (http://www.troplv.com/) website.

The details about where we will be setting up the Jasco Games booth and when the tournament will be are still in the works. Jason will finalize those details and either post them directly or have me post them into a new thread.

Rooms at the Tropicana look like they're going from $300 to $400 depending on when you arrive and leave. I really hope a NeonCon deal pops up soon, otherwise it's like 10 to a room for me.

References that will help...

Also, think about trying to book your hotel room and plane together, you'll likely see around $100 off if booked that way. Check with travel agents for these kind of deals, it can be better than what you see online, but the online deals might not be too bad either.
