    LGR Errata Update

The full list of every single errata would be prohibitively long for a forum post - we will need to work out some manner of database or spreadsheet to do this properly, and that is going to take some time.

What we will do here, though, is to outline -only- the cases that have potential game impacts, or that serve as significant clarifications. First with a few broad categories of cards, then some specific case-by-case issues.

In other words, the fact that a card like Fire Storm is errata'd to have a "[Card Pool]" on its abilities is not going to be explicitly mentioned here. It's fairly clear that that is what the text needs to be in order to operate under the new rules, and nothing about that changes how the card plays. There will be literally hundreds of minor templating fixes like this, so we're just not going to go there in this thread.

This post covers the standard card pool as of April 2015. Other sets legal in Extended are covered in the below post.

Note that keywords are only listed in updated text in cases for which there is a change.

    ------------

First, some broad topics / errata sets:

:: Anything that looks for what an ability "would do" is changed to use "does"-style phrasing instead.

E: This attack gets +X damage. X equals the total number of character cards in both staging areas.

    Example: Instability

R Destroy: After your opponent plays an ability that decreases the damage of an attack, cancel it. Playable while committed.

    Example: Caught Red Handed

R Flip: After your opponent plays an ability on a non-character card that draws or adds cards to their hand, cancel it.

    Example: Seal of Retribution

R Commit, commit 1 foundation: After your opponent plays an ability that increases an attack's damage by 3 or more, cancel it.

:: Any cards utilizing the exact text of the Flash or Safe keyword abilities have or grant that keyword instead.

    Example: Buster Wolf

    Punch - Ranged - Safe

R [Card pool] Discard 1 momentum: After you play this attack, it gets Flash and if it deals damage, your opponent adds 1 card from their discard pile to their card pool.

:: Any reference to "in play" now reads "in both staging areas".

    Example: ZAAAAP!!!

E: This attack gets +X damage. X equals the total number of character cards in both staging areas.

:: Any effect that looks for an -ability- "printed on" a card simply looks for that ability to be "on" the card instead.

(note: Donovan and similar cases that look for traits remain the same)

    Example: Scouting the Enemy

R Commit: After your opponent plays a form ability on a card in their staging area, they lose 1 vitality.

:: The concept of an effect that does different things based on some sort of "instead" clause at the end of the effect is being done away with.

To fix this, the "instead" portions of their abilities have been broken out into separate abilities that are only playable when the original "instead" condition is (or is not) met.

In certain cases, this will cause a card to become slightly better.

    Example: Contacting Heidern
R Commit: After your Combat Phase begins, draw 1 card.
R Commit: After your Combat Phase begins, discard 2 cards and draw 2 cards. Only playable if your opponent's printed hand size is greater than your printed hand size.

    Example: Athena's Knight
E Flip: This attack gets -2 damage (minimum 1). Only playable if your opponent's character is 'G:F'.
E Flip: This attack gets -3 damage (minimum 1). Only playable if your opponent's character is 'G:M'.

    Example: Leona's Orochi Blood
E Destroy this foundation: This attack gets -2 speed. Only playable if this attack is not a <Fire> and <Good> attack. Playable while committed.
E Destroy this foundation: This attack gets +2 speed. Only playable if this attack is a <Fire> and <Good> attack. Playable while committed.

:: Any cards that give another card a blank text box seal it instead.

(note: Yata Mirror Restored is slightly different and does not fall under this group)

    Example: A World Unprepared

Desperation E Commit: Seal 1 of your opponent's foundations.

:: Only three cards using the "then" wording are being errata'd to force a dependency. The others will all become "better" in some way large or small, but not to any dangerous degree.

    Paradox of Existence now reads:
R Commit: After your opponent's attack resolves, add it to their hand. If you did, draw 2 cards.

    *Tim Keefe*'s response now reads:
R: After the Ready Phase, add 1 momentum to your hand. If you did, add 1 card from your hand to your momentum.

Crescent Moon Hook's full updated wording will be located in a later section.

:: Only two cards using "play an attack" wording are being errata'd to work on blocking (namely, the ones that involve Breaker). The other cases will all become "worse" in some way large or small, but not to a degree that the effects no longer make sense.

    **Andrew Olexa**'s response now reads:
R Discard 1 momentum: After an attack card is played, it gets +1 or -1 to all of its keyword ratings.

    *Kaden*'s response now reads:
R: After you play an attack card with a printed blank text box, it gets 'Stun: 1', 'Breaker: 1', or you may add 1 card from your hand to your momentum.

:: There are a few cases where a card references a player doing something that involved their opponent's cards, or is not a card interaction at all. These have been changed to "by effect" wordings. The cards affected are listed below:

    **Kaden**'s first ability now reads:
R (5+): After an attack's speed or damage is increased due to your opponent's effect, flip 1 of their foundations

    *Hwa*'s second ability now reads:
E Commit: If your combo attack deals damage, add 1 other combo attack from your card pool to your hand. Only playable if the zone of this attack has been changed by your effects at least twice this Enhance Step.

Neo Freeze Execution's second ability now reads:
E: If this attack deals damage, your opponent loses 1 vitality for each of their abilities that has been cancelled by your effects this turn.

    Destined Warrior's response now reads:
R Commit: After the speed of your opponent's attack is increased by their effect, that attack gets -2 damage.

    ------------

Aside from those broad groups, there are a myriad of individual card fixes for various reasons. They are mostly pretty minor in terms of the core functions of the cards, but some required rougher re-wirings and may introduce corner-case interactions that did not exist before.

    Remembrance
E Commit: This attack gets Safe until the end of the turn.
E [Your Turn] Destroy: Draw 1 card. Only playable while committed.

    Diplomatic

    Harnessing Chaos

After this foundation is removed from your staging area due to your opponent's effect, search your deck for 1 foundation that shares at least 2 resource symbols with your character and add it to your staging area.

    Crescent Moon Hook
After you play this card, your opponent discards 1 momentum.
First E: If this attack was played as a reversal, turn it face down. If you did, choose 1 attack in your opponent's card pool. This card becomes a copy of the chosen attack, gains your character's resource symbols for the rest of this turn, and is added to the attack stack.

    Super Skull Man 33

    Pre-RH rules errata for Extended

All of the "batch cases" from the above post still of course apply. Here are the individual cases worth calling out:

    ---------

:: A few more "then" -> "if you did" cases:

    Fatherly Love reads:
F Commit: Discard 2 random cards. If you did, draw 2 cards.

    Mishima Zaibatsu Leader reads:
E Commit: Your opponent discards 1 momentum. If they did, add the top card of your deck to your momentum.

    Lunging Brush Fire reads:
E: If this attack deals damage, add 1 other card from your card pool to your momentum. If you did, discard this card from your card pool.

:: A couple Rashotep cards apply a detached variant of seal. This means copies of the card that do not become public until later on in the turn will still be sealed:

    KNEEL BEFORE ME! reads:
F: Name a foundation. Copies of the named foundation have no abilities for the rest of this turn.

Dead for One Thousand Years reads:
R Destroy: After your opponent plays an ability on one of their assets or foundations, copies of that card have no abilities for the rest of this turn.

:: Explicit LGR support for the "negate and destroy" variation is still forthcoming, but it will use 'card' phrasing instead of 'foundation' or 'asset' for simplicity's sake. Normally this wouldn't be worth calling out here, but it does remove an interaction with Lion Stance.

    For the Money's response reads:
R: Before you make a check to play an attack, that check gets +2. Your opponent may commit 2 foundations to cancel this effect and destroy this card.

    Stand Off reads:
E Commit 2 foundations: This attack gets -4 damage. Your opponent may commit 2 foundations to cancel this effect and destroy this card.
E Commit 2 foundations: Your attack gets +4 damage. Your opponent may commit 2 foundations to cancel this effect and destroy this card.

    :: Miscellaneous

    *Cassandra*'s first enhance reads:
E Reveal 1 attack card from your hand: Your attack gets +X damage or +X speed. X equals the revealed card's block modifier. If it received a damage bonus in this way, discard the revealed card.

    Summoning Evil reads:
R After destroying a foundation as a cost, add it to your staging area committed.

    Cyclone Zephyr's continuous ability reads:
After you play this card, you may not play cards from your hand for the rest of this turn.

    Quest of Souls reads:
F Commit: Unflip 1 foundation. If it was an attack or action card, add it from your discard pile to your hand.

    Enraged Golem reads:
E Commit: Your {Fire} attack gets +X damage. X equals the lowest control among your opponent's face up foundations.

    *Dariya*'s form reads:
F [Once per turn] Commit 1 foundation: Choose 1 card in your opponent's staging area. This character gains all played abilities on that card for the rest of this turn.

    Perfect Memory reads:
E: Choose 1 enhance ability on a card in your opponent's card pool. Your attack gains that ability for the rest of this Enhance Step.

    Calming the Mind reads:
R Commit: After your opponent's Combat Phase begins, until the beginning of your opponent's next turn, whenever a card in your opponent's staging area, card pool, discard pile or removed from game pile would be added to their momentum during the Combat Phase, your opponent adds that card to their momentum before the End Phase instead; and whenever a card in your opponent's hand or deck would be added to their momentum during the Combat Phase, your opponent adds a card from that zone to their momentum before the End Phase instead.

    --------

As with standard, there are technically hundreds of templating errata that don't change anything about how one would expect a card to play, and thus are not mentioned here. If and when there is a database to contain them, these official wordings will be more properly available.

Also as with standard, there are cases where a card not-getting a major / non-templating errata may make it somewhat better or worse under the new rules. It'd be impossible to make an exhaustive list, but to mention a handful of cards that saw heavy play in their day -

Need to Destroy (will not work on breaker)
Mishima Family Bloodline (cannot both draw cards and bring the character down)
Spinning Demon (multiple copy will get the ability regardless)
Howling Spirits (should not apply vit loss on its own hit)
