Jasco Games Looks to Revive Evil Dead 2: The Official Board Game

“Here’s Your New Home” – Ash Williams

Jasco Games LLC, a premier board game and card game publisher based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has created an initiative to help the gaming community at large.  As most are aware, there was a board game campaign on Kickstarter.com posted by Space Goat Productions promising a thematic board game for Evil Dead 2 fans.  The game was funded by 6,143 backers.

Over the last several months, Space Goat Productions has announced that they will not be capable of fulfilling this game to their customers and they have no concrete solution to the problem.  After extensive discussion and planning, Jasco Games CEO and Founder, Jason Hawronsky, and Lynnvander Studios CEO, Thomas Gofton, (no affiliation to Space Goat Productions) have come up with a plan to “revive” the game.

“We will be bringing this game back to life, as fitting as that statement is to this property. Jasco’s plan is to raise funds for a new Evil Dead 2 game, and provide a copy of that game to existing backers of the previous campaign” said Jasco Games CEO and Founder, Jason Hawronsky.

Jasco Games has recently entered into an agreement with the owner of Evil Dead 2 to create the new game.  While Jasco Games does not have access to the original game created by Space Goat Productions, they do have access to several of the components, which means a completely new game will be created using many of the original elements,  all in keeping with Jasco’s high standard of quality and theme.

This will begin with a new Kickstarter campaign. For every game sold on the new Kickstarter campaign, an additional game will be donated to an existing backer of the previous campaign. Jasco Games has acquired the backer and pre-order list from the previous Space Goat Productions campaign to make this possible. Only if the new campaign is successfully funded will Jasco be able to provide games to new buyers and to previous backers.

All the partners involved will be working diligently over the next few quarters to make sure a top quality Evil Dead 2 game gets made and fulfilled to all the backers!

That would be amazing and I would definitely appreciate it if it gets funded and I can finally get the “game” I originally help fund! Thank you. 😁

I am one of the original backers. My opening investment was only for the $80 pledge, then after they met funding and started adding stretch goals I made more purchases via the backer kit. Probably to the tune of $200... with the purchase of pewter minis (Pre-painted), dice bag, Gooseneck Henrietta figure.... ect. Anyway I wanted to find how you intend to full fill the requests of all previous backers? Are you going to request further monies from us? I understand you probably can't afford to just give us the copies we are owed with out some sort of financial commitment. But you are talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars already previously invested... many of those people feel so burn they don't want to spend extra money to get what they feel they are owed. Some people backed multiple game titles that aren't going to be fulfilled by SGP. And much more upset than I. I can't say I blame them. How do you intend to keep track of everyone? What are we as the previous backers to expect from you? How can we be assured if we add more funds to support this title that we aren't going to be out further money?

Thanks so much for doing this! I wasted $320 on the original campaign and just because you seem to be good guys I'll be backing the new one! It's guys like you that makes me love the industry! Thanks again and I'll see you on the kickstarter!

I am a backer from the ED2 Campaign and I am super excited about this and greatful for what your doing. I am curious if it will matter how much a backer sank into the previous campaign? I sunk $425 into it. That was for 2 copies of the game and all add ons for one copy and some add ons for the second. Please don’t mistake this for anything other than curiosity. I am super greatful for anything I get.

Man, I was an original backer for a deluxe ed with all the trimmings. I'd even be willing to pay a little more into this campaign if it means my money didn't just evaporate. JASCO, you've made me so happy!

This is fanstastic news and honestly makes me happy that the gaming industry cares what happened to all the new backers. I’ll publicize it as much as I can when the KS starts. Thank you!

This is exactly the kind of goodwill and commitment to the industry and hobby, that many have been waiting for. I couldn’t be any happier, discovering that it is Jasco and Lynnvander stepping up to make right, an incredibly huge wrong. Hats off, and Go Leafs Go.

An interesting plan, although I'm concerned that if SGP was ever capable of making the game as promised, they would use this action as an excuse not to provide backers with their pledged content... Either way, I applaud your compassion and generosity, and Lynnvander is great. I pledged all-in on ED2 to the tune of about $208 so I hope that whatever you decide to do with the new game, it's pretty hefty and still the tile based co-op we were hoping for!

I will be behind you 100% hoping and praying you can pull this off. I was also one of the first to back the game originally as a Birthday/Christmas gift for my son (he got nothing that year) I don't have money to put into another campaign, but if we truly can get a game because it gets funded through this one I will be eternally happy...

I'm curious to know how you guys will go about contacting the original backers to obtain updated shipping address info, etc. Thank you for entertaining the prospect of bringing this game to life and offering it to the original backers. Looking forward to seeing the kickstarter launch.

Wow. That is... really cool of Jasco. I pretty much wrote the game off, but if they succeed and end up tossing me a copy in the process, they pretty much definitely have a sale from me in the future.

I put down more than $320 on the original KS. 1 game for my daughter and 1 for myself plus the extras. We were so disappointed and can't believe there was nothing to be done by Kickstarter, Spacegoat or anyone else. I'm glad to hear of your plans and hope it comes to fruition. Thank you for the effort.

I have to thank you guys for this move—I'm one of the backers from the original campaign (to the tune of $225) and wasn't soured on Kickstarter by this, but was disappointed that SGP collapsed the way it did and handled their customers as poorly as they did. Thanks again—looking forward to the new campaign!

This is great news! One thing I did not like about the original campaign for the Evil Dead 2 game was the comic book style artwork. Hopefully you guys can come up with something different for the art. Paintings instead of the anime style would be awesome.

Thanks for doing this. I spent around $200, not sure, on the 1st campaign. But what if you only get 3000 backer? How would you decide which 3000 would get the free copy of the game? Just curious. Thanks. I hope you get tons of backers.

It makes me unbelievably happy that this game might rise from the dead, as any Kandarian Demon should. I hope that you'll send us original backer a link to the Kickstarter campaign when it's open so that we can track the progress and spread the word. Heck, some of us might even be willing to kick in a couple of bucks to help it along if it means we finally get our games, especially since you guys aren't the ones who squandered our money in the first place. :) KANDAR! KANDAR! KANDAR!

I was buying this as a gift for my siblings, in time to get it signed by Bruce Campbell, but it was pushed back time after time, updates decreasing in information at a quick pace. We worried because we all knew something was going down..and it did. Before you knew it people were asking for more details; "game or refund" was the resounding cry. I hope this campaign pulls through, because if it is it may just be worth the wait (and the $180ish dollars) to be have the game and one hell of a story! Sincerely, Victor

amazing thing you are doing. I got screwed with the old company BUT I will fund this again just because you are doing the right thing (and the game sounds cool). you have a follower from now on even if it does not get funded (but you know it will within hours). Good luck and thank you for showing that the gaming community really is a community.
